Hope Island Marine Park

Hope Island is a pristine island that time forgot. A traditional neutral gathering place for many native tribes in the area, the island was homesteaded in 1898, and it's ownership passed between several owners over the next 100 years. In 1990, the state parks recreation commission obtained the island for use as a park. The 106 acre island has a small caretakers cabin, some relics from its days as a homestead, and some great hiking and relaxing!

The South side of the island contains a small shallow inlet near a clearing that once held the homestead. Several moorings are located off of this inlet, and a shell beach appropriate for landing craft and potters surrounds the inlet on both sides. For those that wish to go ashore for a picnic, there is the option of rafting up to the moorings and rowing in on a landing craft, or simply beaching their boats. The tide will be rising, however, so those beaching may want to say near their craft.

The Island has some really nice hiking trails, and the adventurous may decide to hike one of the many trails through the thickly forested island.
